Done the MCAT!

I didn't know I had scheduled my MCAT for a Friday the 13th until somebody pointed it out a month ago. Was I fazed? Not really. But it was a bit of a surprise that I hadn't noticed it.

Still, today felt good. I can't discuss details because I signed a confidentiality agreement, but the Verbal Reasoning section went more smoothly than I could have hoped for and everything else was pretty much...par for the course. I think.

My pre-MCAT selfie. Gameface ON. Purse full of food READY. Phone and Ring Of Barahir CHECK. Let's go kick some MCATbutt.

I also ran into Keren (I know, right!) at the test centre and man it's been ages since we hung out. Talk about surprises.

Since my test centre was literally a 10 minute walk from Mackenzie, so I decided to spontaneously pay them a visit. Except in my haste in announcing that I am freeeeee at long last, I walked right into the path of a sprinkler and got more or less wet.

I hit up the English department first (of course). It was lunchtime so David wasn't in his classroom -- if that even is still his classroom -- and it took me a few seconds to remember how to get to the English office.

I hung out in there for a bit, then decided to make my rounds to the Science department. First classroom with a teacher I knew was Mrs. Batras -- and she remembered me! She even said how she thought the year Albert and I ran MSc/MSEO were the golden days (I'm not sure if she was just saying that or if she really meant it. Of course, I'd like to think she really meant it...). We chatted for a bit. I found out Ms. Extavour was on mat leave. I already knew Dr. Burt was on mat leave (again!) when I emailed her in September, but this was news! After a while I went to look for Ms. Law, but the office door said she was in the CIC/Presentation Suite. Okay. Where's that? It sounds so familiar, but I couldn't remember where it was.

As it turns out, Ms. Law forgot my name. Mostly because she never really taught me, she was just one of our staff advisors for MSc. Also she couldn't really recall half our exec team either, and I don't blame her -- she's got a LOT of students to remember, and I graduated a good 3 years ago. Still, we chatted a bit (once she remembered who I was). She mentioned it was nice to see older students come back and visit, since then they could really see how much they've grown since leaving Mackenzie. It was kind of heartwarming too, to know that my former teachers are so proud of how far we've come and that we remember them enough to come by and chat. And then, as per Ms. Law fashion, she asked me about my love life. I might have fibbed a bit.

At the end I paid David one last visit in the English department, and he promised to follow up on emails this time (actually! not like the last few times he promised!)

And then I went home, feeling pretty damn great about everything.
Friday the thirteenth turned out pretty well, all things considering.

In the upcoming weeks, I guess I'll be updating a lot more with calligraphy (hopefully), nature things, maybe recipes and book reviews. We'll see. Even with my new-found free time, I have to start putting together my OMSAS soon.

Life of a med wannabe, always busy, busy, b u s y.

Until next time,
